Over the past 30 years, ice chewers have identified the crunchy ice nuggets produced by Scotsman Ice System’s Nugget Ice machine as the most chewable type of ice. At luvthenug.com, they can declare their love for the “nugs” by joining the Nugget Nation.
There, nug lovers can search for establishments that serve nugget ice, buy “Luv the Nug” swag, and, of course, compete to win their very own Scotsman Nugget Ice machine by proving themselves to be the one true nug believer.
While at first glance this site may seem a little zany, you have to commend Scotsman for their innovative approach to incorporate the end user into the mix. Not only does it give consumers the opportunity to play a part in the decision making process by searching for and frequenting businesses that utilize the Scotsman machines, they can also let their preferences be known by petitioning for non-nug establishments to obtain the machines.
Scotsman may be the first in the industry to target end users in this fashion, but judging from the site’s unique ability to attract followers and raise awareness for the Nugget Ice Machine, the idea will surely catch on in no time.
